Things Every Mom Wants to Say (But Doesn't)
I always write them a letter before my guys head off to college each year. I'm not exactly sure if it's more for them or me, but there are just some things I need to say. It's easier to jot it down on paper than sending a text or a voice note, you know? I sneakily leave the letters where I know they'll stumble upon them once I'm not around. I don't expect anything back, which makes it all worthwhile. I hope they get the important messages. Here's a sweet twist - I found my letters while helping them pack up, and my heart was full. Figured I'd share it with the world, too. Take a look and shoot your college kid one- trust me.

Hey Guys,
So, y'all are off! Jonah, it's your last year at Cuse, and Zac, it's your first year off campus! Can't believe how fast time flies, especially when you're having a blast! I know in my heart you've both had a great time at school, from what you've told me and the confidence and growth I've seen in you.
I could not be prouder of you both.
I know sometimes I'm annoying and overbearing; I'm sorry for making you crazy. You are both more than capable of doing it all! I'm sorry if I ever underestimated your ability to make shit happen. I'm never going to stop wanting the best for you. Never. But I'm not perfect, and I can do a much better job of letting you figure it out independently. You both have resilience and grit and always bounce back when stuff goes south. Or things don't go your way. You can do hard things because you have done hard things before. You've heard the word "no" and accepted defeat; both have made you stronger. I am in awe of your perseverance and jealous of your strength. I never felt like I could do the tough stuff when I was your age. Somehow, you've both figured it out and risen to the occasion- it makes my heart happy.
So, enjoy this year at school. Make good choices and do things that excite you. Create new memories and take it all in. And although I will miss you daily, I know you are thriving and creating life-long memories. Be kind to one another, and remember this is the last semester you guys will be on campus together!! One day, you'll look back and realize how lucky you were to share experiences. Very few siblings get the opportunity to be in college at the same time, let alone the same place!
HAVE FUN- and find a little time to hang out, okay? Oh, and text your mother!
You know where to find me if you need me. I'll be here for you...I love you so much.
Always and in all ways,
Xoxo
